Get ready for more howls of racism

Betsy's Page

The Justice Department has approved Georgia's very sensible law requiring voters to show a photo ID in order to vote. Even though the law has provisions to provide photo IDs to those who don't have drivers' license, race baiters will claim that this is one more example of Republicans somehow trying to prevent blacks from voting. Meanwhile, the argument that voting should have at least the same requirements that renting a video or cashing a check do will be brushed aside by those who love to cry racism everytime a state tries to limit fraud in voting. I wish that these people would remember what real disenfranchisement looked like in places like Georgia 40 years ago. This ain't it.
