<<<< Your use of the adjective "extreme" to describe Krugman's economics and his politics is, in the current practice, simply a way to dismiss his work without addressing it.>>>>

John, I've tried very hard over the years to address his thinking specifically. I have done that with source linking many many times. I would counter your argument that it is you that takes what Krugman argues for on faith - rather than counter his ideology with that of others. You have said many times you trust him. ..........My upbringing forces me to question everyone. One of the reasons I suppose I'm an agnostic - so I don't accept the right wing crap from the fundamentalist on religion either. For years I read Pauls comment editorials as I subscribed to the NYTimes. I just flat out disagree with his ideology. People, Countries, or Businesses that have staid out of trouble have done so by being moderate with the amount they are indebted for. Those that have borrowed an amount unjustified by their income have consistently gotten into trouble - whether you are a home buyer, or a Greece or an Enron. You cannot consistently live beyond your willingness to pay for your lifestyle. That is a ponzi scheme. We have demanded too much and been promised too much by our politicians. That Krugman wants to give us more is only to double down on something that hasn't worked. No matter how much you want Krugmans ideas to be implemented it is just not going to happen. Not his. Not now. A more modest keynesian help list perhaps, but not his. If he was mainstream, his ideas would be implemented in a flash. He gawd he sure isn't mainstream, but for your sake I'll try not to call him an extremist.
