Comparison to Sony is interpretive, not based on sales. Both cos. succeed in consumer-oriented commodity markets with strong brands, designs, and consumer awareness, allowing for relative markups on low-end models and willing buyers on high-end products. Also, both are probably THE company in their respective countries of which people are proudest. (I assume that's true for Finland; in Japan, old-timers might favor Toyota over Sony but younger people probably prefer the latter.)
