Not a TA guy myself and have read alot of the books saying discount TA, but the AAII Journal has run several articles showing that moving averages and relative strength measures do seen to have some predictive power. I haven't written it off totally. In particular I buy into the saying "never try to catch a falling knife," - clearly a momentum/TA type statement. Stocks that are going down rapidly seem to keep going down.
