Q Television Network Activities At CTAM Summit Are A Huge Success Thursday July 28, 3:23 pm ET
PALM SPRINGS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 2005--Q Television Network (OTCBB Other: QBID), the first 24/7 premium network for the gay and lesbian community, announced today that their presence at this week's annual CTAM Summit in Philadelphia was a huge success for the network. The CTAM Summit broke all previous registration records with about 3500 cable TV programming and marketing executives in attendance at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from Sunday, July 24 through Tuesday, July 26th. This event provided the premium cable TV network with a unique opportunity to have direct access to the cable TV industry's top decision makers, all within one location.
ADVERTISEMENT "We wanted to make a good impression with cable operators at CTAM. I believe we were very successful. Cable operators can now see that Q Television is a player," said Frank Olsen, President, CEO and Founder of Q Television Network.
The network managed a series of meetings with key cable TV system operators about carriage of the network. These activities were supported by a dynamic print media campaign that dominated every trade publication, as well as an in-hotel room video presence. The promotional prominence on-site was topped off by the CTAM closing reception, sponsored by Q Television.
The network used this reception as a platform to kick off its 12-month countdown to its unprecedented live telecast coverage of Gay Games® VII from Chicago next July. At the reception Q Television Network brought the energy, passion and international flavor of Gay Games® VII to nearly 1000 of the attendees of CTAM Summit with an unforgettable celebration. The party -- which took place immediately after the closing session -- featured several of the network's on-air talent, a representative from the Gay Games, plus a booming and colorful "parade of athletes" to represent the Games' international participants, and a glamorous and celebrated "gender illusionist", or drag queen, who was carried by four muscle-bound gladiators in a gold "Q" sedan chair.
Cable industry guests also enjoyed viewing the world premiere of a special 4-minute video designed to give a preview of next year's groundbreaking coverage, which begins with the "Road to Gay Games® VII" series, which will feature the personal stories of individual athletes in training for next summer's Chicago Games. This series is hosted by Saskia Webber, former member of the 1999 World Cup Champion U.S. Women's National Soccer Team.
"We wanted to inform cable TV operators about the importance of these Games to their gay & lesbian subscribers. Premiering the video gave us the chance to introduce the industry to this world-class, sporting and cultural event, and to emphasize that QTN will be the first network ever to telecast the Games," said Joe Schramm, President of Schramm Sports & Entertainment, the New York agency responsible for developing the trade brand image and consumer marketing for the network.
As the official television network for Gay Games® VII, QTN will provide an unparalleled lineup of both live and packaged programming that not only takes viewers into the Olympic-style action, but also connects them with the hearts and personal stories of the participating athletes from all over the world. Next summer's Chicago games are a featured highlight of what has become a signature of the channel -- on-site live coverage of major events that are important to the gay and lesbian audience.
