It's just my guess, right or wrong, but one thing is clear that IT IS STILL NOT CLEAR what caused the recent dramatic price drop of PMCS. Nobody can monoply a market forever. That is why PMCS is putting so much effort in research and expanding to other markets. They are doing great in the right direction and are able to keep such high profit margin (for so long, admirably).
ATA, ERICY, NT, and NOKA all sell a lot in Asia, but never LU, Ciena, Telllab, or VTSS, PMCS. I think ATA and NT are the most involved according to my first hand experience. However, Asia is not dead. It will grow again before long.
As far as VTSS, I honestly don't know. It has to be associated, perhaps wrongfully though, with CIEN/TLAB event, which in its own is unjustified in my opinion. The people at the VTSS booth of the Fibre Channel Expo had the same feeling. |
