You and Warren are both wrong.

If Warren had split his stock to make it much more attractive
to the average investor, he would have seen a greater appreciation
IMHO than he has experienced, which I admit hasn't been anything
short of spectacular.

Plus you get the compounding effect. A stock that appreciates
by $2 in one trading session advances by $200 on 100 shares and
by only $100 on the original 50 shares, using a 2 for 1 in this
example.

And lastly, there's the psychological affect of believing one's
buying a company at a cheaper price post-split and that it will
eventually achieve past higher levels.
