This will get even more confusing, I promise. HSCSD is arriving within a month to Sonera, then to other GSM operators. That's the technology that can offer 38 point something kbps. GPRS arrives next year. I'm not sure what the "basic rate" means - probably what current GSM handsets can handle. But GPRS will manage 100 kbps with the new handsets specifically designed for it.

Yes, it's the 9110 on sale in Asia now. You're referring to the transition from 9000 to 9110 (that other guy, not molloy) - 7110 is the third generation internet model.
