Dragon is a minority stockholder in fonix: December 18, 1998 Dow Jones Newswires Dragon Systems Files IPO for $100M Common Stock Dow Jones Newswires WASHINGTON -- Dragon Systems Inc. filed an initial public offering for $100 million of common stock. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, Dragon Systems said it would use proceeds from the sale for working capital and capital expenditures. Based in Newton, Mass., Dragon is a leading developer of speech recognition technology. The company specializes in enabling voice communications with computers, telephones, industrial systems and mobile devices. Its products include Dragon NaturallySpeaking, a continuous dictation computer software program. The software is currently available in six languages, with releases in Japanese and Mandarin Chinese slated for 1999. Dragon said it has filed an application for its common stock to be quoted on the Nasdaq under the symbol "DRGN." Seagate Technology Inc. (SEG) has invested in Dragon since 1994, and currently owns about 38% of the company's outstanding common stock on an as-converted basis, according to the SEC filing.
