I doubt whether it has much to do with the stock's performance, but Adaptec has recently generated some less-than-wonderful press over on comp.periphs.scsi as a result of releasing a BIOS update for the 2940UW (one of their popular cards) that had some problems. The offending update has been withdrawn. JMHO.
