Allen, thanks for your informative posting on INTS and its CORBA backplane strategy. I first heard Naren Gupta (INTS Chairman) talk about it a year ago. At that time he stressed the importance of CORBA and how it would give INTS an advantage over WIND because they could offer a true enterprise-wide development environment. He also said that they would concentrate on selling their products enterprise-wide. This strategy puzzled me at the time and still does. It seems to be gamble that CORBA will become the de facto standard or else it is a retreat into a subset of the market. It looks like CORBA will be an important part of the market but so will DCOM. Thus requiring CORBA, as you point out, is going to limit their market. Perhaps they recognize the magnitude of the problem in going head-to-head with Tornado in the broad market and feel that this is their best shot.

Michael
