Replying to an old post of yours from last year, but I read something today that jogged my memory about hi-res audio on Macs and iOS devices. You wrote:

Does this jibe with what you know about Apple's current Music app regarding ALAC/FLAC at the max bitrates?

From this Apple Support article:

"In addition to AAC, the entire Apple Music catalog is now also encoded using ALAC in resolutions ranging from 16-bit/44.1 kHz (CD Quality) up to 24-bit/192 kHz."

I don't know how that impacts GarageBand since I don't use it.
