Instead of moving to expand their base by doing the above, they're desperately trying to hang on to the coalition of losers they currently represent. The gun nuts, the tax haters, the racists, the bible-thumpers, and most of all, the wealthy. I didn't include the small government supporters, because ALL of them are not nuts, and that's who they're losing, sane person by sane person.
