Apple announces M4, new iPad Pro, iPad Air, software updates Apple announced its new M4 processor today with a new “display engine” and more powerful processors with an emphasis on AI, along with improved power efficiency. A new iPad Pro is the first device to use the M4 chip, and it introduces a new “Ultra Retina” display with pricing starting at $999+/$1499+ for the 11-inch/13-inch sizes. A new $129 “ Apple Pencil Pro” works with the new iPads, along with an updated “ iPad Magic Keyboard” at $299. Apple also updated its iPad “Air” family, adding a 13-inch model priced starting at $799+ with the 11-inch model starting at $599+. These are actually the heaviest iPads, belying their confusingly misleading name. Future Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro updates are promised for both iPadOS and macOS with an AI emphasis.
