TSR makes announcement Friday, December 27, 1996 11:44 AM HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 27, 1996--TSR Inc. (NASDAQ: TSRI), a provider of computer programming services and Year 2000 software solutions announced today that its 80% owned subsidiary (the "company"), using its proprietary Year 2000 conversion software, CATCH/21, completed to its satisfaction the field test of an 80,000 COBOL application for a Fortune 500 firm. The company believes there are two factors that distinguish CATCH/21 from other approaches. The first is that the conversion process is 100% automated, in that there is no involvement on the part of the client in the conversion process other than providing test scripts and files for execution of the acceptance test. The second factor is cost. At 20 cents per line-of-code, the company believes its solution is significantly less expensive than other methods. Although the company is satisfied with the results of the field test, it is awaiting confirmation of such results from the Fortune 500 company's chief information officer. The company has commenced preliminary marketing of CATCH/21, and while it is optimistic as to the acceptance of this product, it has not received any orders and, at this early stage, is unable to predict whether its solution will receive significant customer acceptance. The company anticipated that the decision as to the acceptability of the test will be made by the Fortune 500 company during the next few weeks. If the test is viewed favorably, the company will receive a small amount of revenue and anticipates being in a favorable position to receive orders for additional Year 2000 work from this organization. The company stated that there is no assurance that the test results will be favorably received or that any revenues or additional work will be generated even if the test results are favorably received.
