Richard,

The spread between buy/sell of $1 is common for low volume and volatile stock; you may see sometimes an even larger spread. As I understand market maker who is the dealer between seller and buyer would like to lower their risk by set up a larger spread. For NYSE the spread is usually tigher. I don't know if I answer your question but at least I tried.
