Dear Tom:

This morning in my meditations I was thinking of Amelia. Grieving for her and I never met her. Praying for her family. I have heard that cancer will very soon become the number one killer. The rampage with which it strikes into so many lives. Young.Old.Alike. I had to ask God why Lord. Why. I cannot say I received a definitive answer form the Lord but some thoughts started crossing my mind.

Leprosy was feared so in the days of Christ and why was it so ? What messages was God sending. The religious heirarchy, God's chosen people had isolated themselves. By strict adherance to the O/T Law they had isolated themselves from God, in that they were counting on acts of righteousness rather than the Righteousness Giver. The leper felt the estrangement of society, the leper in a way manifested what God was feeling......a separation from those He loved. The pharisee felt nothing was wrong, but they were just as estranged from God as the leper was from his society, and also the God that they also believed in.

So what Lord does this have to do with our today ? Cancer. The silent killer. Soon to be the number one killer. What is so prevalent in our society that brings this disease out. God forbid if I am singling out anyone. But I feel the answer is in sin.

What are the messages our society gives. The pendulum has swung in the total and opposite direction. I'm speaking about the religious heirarchy. Now it is anything goes ! Compromise anything. Let sin into our homes by the media, the internet, magazines, tv, cable, HBO, books, our language, our thoughts , our lusts. Everything is compromised and we are so unaware of what a normal existence SHOULD be that we are estranged from God. We think our lifestyles are AOK but we are so compromised and do not realize it. The religious leaders are just as bad.

I started reading in I Cor '15: 55 56. Paul is talking of the rapture. He says Oh death where is thy sting and in vs. the sting of death is sin. This is a clear warning IMHO. He says the strength of sin is the LAW. I believe this means the strength to overcome sin is in adherance to the LAW. YES YES Christ adhered to the Law(perfectly--every dot and iota) but this does not excuse us of doing our best to please God in our living a righteous lifestyle.

So what is it that the cancer patient feels . Corrupted. Being eaten alive. The walking death. How horrible. But is this not how the Lord is seeing this generation? I'm talking of his own children too.

We don't even realize it . We think we are not being affected by all the sin that bombards us every day. But we are.

I started repenting for myself , my daughter and son in law, my family. As a church elder I repented for somethings that I am going to start raising a polite ruckus about in my own church. Oh God how have you been able to tolerate me. Lead me down paths of righteousness. Take this compromising attitude away from me . For the Love of God let me identify SIN, call it out and deal with it. Let me be a LIGHT to this world and to my own family and to my church and to this thread.

God bless all of you in Christ..and may he give all of you spiritual, brooms, spiritual dump trucks, spiritual vacumn cleaners , spiritual Lysol, to rid your environments of sin. With all my heart I feel this is the spiritual method that God has given us to combat the dread disease of cancer. I love you ...in Christ.
