I am not referring to any particular software but software in general. What is "advanced" is everyone's opinion. How many lines of code is the core OS in that 35 Mill? How many are 3rd party device drivers, add-on components, bells and whistles, etc? Just throw in a 35Mill. figure doesn't mean much.

It is the common trend that software are adding more and more new features and keeping support old features for each release. It is debatable whether this is right direction but as long as market demand that trend will continue. I like notepad best when I need a text editor, it small, fast, needs little memory. But there are many people like Word or WordPerfect. You can't satisfy all needs of all people.
