This is why we don't have the money to keep bridges from collapsing.

It's one of many. There are opportunity costs to everything we fund. That factor tends to get lost in these debates.

The cost of updating infrastructure, though, is staggering. The opportunity cost of Iraq is the one that most bothers me, but even if we had all that money back to spend on infrastructure, we'd still need more.
