Wiley, IMO the best PNF TA attribute is the consistent and accurate
sell signals. By consistent I mean that before a stock gets pounded, it usually gives a few PNF sell signals. You might see relative strength weaken followed by a column of O's exceeding a previous column of O's prior to a big drop.
By comparison, IMO Signals from candlestick charts are accurate when they flash. However, they don't consistently flash. This is ok on the buy side because you may be following several stocks and buy the one that gives a candlestick buy signal. However, you may or may not ever get a candlestick sell signal before the damage is done.
