First, a DNA test. Then if it was proven the suspect was really guilty, the sentence the State proscribed, which I would hope would be life imprisonment with no possibility of parole. (There have been cases recently where a suspect was PROVEN to be not guilty by virtue of the DNA test -- but some still wanted the former suspect to be tried and executed anyway! Now that's justice for you, eh?) If the system was perfect, I would accept the death penalty. Bit ONLY if the system were perfect. Right now it is not.
