Good morning Nemer--my apologies for not having responded to your post earlier.

In truth, I did almost complete a response and then the power went off momentarily and that was the end of that.

>>I still consider it THE major failure of my SI experience that the discord came about between Kev, Don, and you with him. <<

I think that you are being way too hard on yourself.

With the benefit of hindsight and the passage of time, I have come to the conclusion that much of the friction was caused by differences in trading philosophies. I suspect that the same is the case with Kevin as well.

I stopped following Iqbal's posts for the most part a while back though once in a while someone sends me a message that I should check out something or the other he has said. I think that his understanding of macro-economics is good--his trading approach does not comport with mine. As you know, I move from short to long and back again--when trading the futures based on signals that my system generates. I think that the market as whole is ridiculously over-valued but the market does not agree with me:) So I have been mostly in cash--T Bills actually--for the best part of a year--except for core positions.

At some point I hope to put these funds to use--Malaysia looks interesting as I posted recently-- though that is in part because I have a contact there who has an astute sense of the macro-economic factors that prevail there. The oil sector looks attractive at this juncture as an investment--I may take an initial position in this sector soon. If the market declines the oil sector will head lower as well. I don't know whether you have heard of David Dreman--I have followed him for years and he is known for not following the crowd -- and he thinks that this sector is one that has promise. I am confident that other sectors will also become worth looking at down the line. I don't subscribe to the Kahunaites point of view that we are headed for calamity but I there comes a time when one needs to step aside -- and that is where I am. I am looking at the possiblity of some selective shorting of stocks since several of the people whose opinions I respect see the potential for a sharp decline. But I have not done anything yet.

Life in my new location has been very satisfying, so far--though ask me again after this winter:) I live in Northern Virginia which is very pretty country and not a bit congested--nice people too. My next door neighbor actually brought some flowers as a welcome.

The cost of living is quite a bit lower than Southern California--though nothing compared to your neck of the woods. $1400 annually to insure 3 cars is unreal considering that I used to pay $4000 in Southern California---for much less comprehensive coverage. Can't report on the cost of a hair-cut yet--I have not had a hair cut in 3 months -- and my hair length which is bearing a faint resemblence to yester-year, definitely does not fit in with the image of people here--who are a pretty conservative lot--generally corporate executives. Never sure what to say when people ask me what I do for a living. I look too young to say that I am retired--don't want to say that I am unemployed --lest people think that I am milking the welfare system. To tell people that I am trading futures for a living -- could cause people to feel that the neighborhood is in trouble:) So I have settled for saying that I am a consultant--which seems to be an all encompassing term to include those who are unemployed but don't want to say so:)

This post has been a far cry from futures trading--but just to keep to the topic--I am looking to go long the futures at about the 1098 -1100 level for a day trade.

Take care
