The point is AOL keeps shifting position and perspective about
fundamental stuff. Changing strategy to better address markets
and competition is one thing, altering basic tenets is another.

Pittman's statement says AOL is backpedalling away from content.

Just four months ago AOL reorganized into three divisions, one
of which is AOL Studios. That move was to highlight and focus
importance of developing content. And a big part of the hype
about Pittman was his track record and experience with TV content.
