Hi, Alexa...I absolutely have anecdotes concerning the natives and their food. I was about ten when we tripped there from Cleveland to visit relatives. We must have been unexpected because my first night was spent sleeping in a kitchen chair. Talk about comfort!
On the food subject, you'll have to go back a couple of hundred posts where I mentioned that great example of Polish cuisine - duck blood soup with dumplings. I'm hoping it'll wind up in Penni's Soup Book.
The custom, of course, was to visit the Falls. I forget which parent clutched me at the railing to prevent the other from seeing if I would drop faster than a feather. The US version, I guess, of the experiment at Pisa.
Foreign books? In my late teens I was a great fan of Dostoevski. Been promising myself to re-read him since, but still haven't gotten around to it. It's been a long time, but I remember him as a great, great writer.
