I've used both Metastock & Supercharts 3.0CD. I prefer Supercharts.

But for programmability, you should consider Tradestation 4.0, which is much more advance than either of the above. At $1,000, it is also one of the most costly, but it is the best 'home' systems I'd tried. With Tradestation, you get real-time or end-of-day charts, what-ifs that are multi-level, like find stocks with last 5 hi's at 65% over 200 day MA with RSI over 50% with stochastics over 65% and no previous 10 days lows below 30 day MA. It's pretty ggod for a PC-based system.

On the floor, I(we) use CQG terminals, but these are $10,000/ month workstations.

I think Omega Research offers Tradestation and Supercharts with 30-day tryout periods.
