Car Bomb at Shi'ite Mosque Kills 14 in Baghdad

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide car bomb blew up outside a Shi'ite mosque in Baghdad on Friday, the Muslim holy day, intensifying efforts to drive a wedge between Iraq (news - web sites)'s religious communities ahead of an election in nine days' time.

The bomb exploded at a small green-domed mosque in western Baghdad, killing 14 worshippers and wounding 40 as they emerged from prayers, doctors and witnesses said. A wall in front of the mosque was slightly damaged and three cars were destroyed.
