The telcos are resorting first to what they know best -- the regulators they "hate" so much -- their protection force. I don't think the internet access is costing them a large amount in proportion to their annual revenues to upgrade infrastructure. They just see the incredible revenue stream (AOL) with mouths watering and are incensed at the additional costs they are bearing. People in my office say that the FCC just won't require the access charges for internet services -- contrary to their goal of the new universal access. What do you think telcos will do when the FCC finally tells them to get lost?

Long term AOL is a loser. If somebody gets the "when" figured out for the stock, call me. I want in.

For now its a good trading vehicle with some risk, but not too much if you're playing the down side and not betting the farm every time.
