I think that the rumors of PictureTel's demise are premature. I've learned that I am never as brilliant as I look when one of my stocks goes up nor as stupid on the downside. Let's all cut Tony some flack. As well as the mutual fund managers who are long PCTL.

Intel is putting video phones as free software on virtually every new MMX-enabled PC. I saw a Kodak digital camera at Demo 97 last week that can be used as 1) camcorder, 2) still camera, 3) videoconferencing camera for less than $200. This area is coming and it is coming big.

Sure it will be a transition period for PictureTel and VTEL. But I think that it is worth the gamble to assume that they can benefit from this market. Remember, videoconferencing has been, at best, 100,000s of units. We are talking millions here.

Do you really think that PCTL is going to shrivel up and die?
