I agree with your statement,and also recognize that this months total shares-sold-short is higher than we have seen in WIND this year. At the current average trading volume of 313,796 shares/day the number of short shares would not seem to be terribly significant in relation to average daily volume. Radisys has an almost identical number of shorts (1,090,572),has an average daily volume considerably less than WIND and seems to be holding up well.

It is not uncommon for Convertible Bond holders to arbitrage their position and Occam's razor would lead me to suggest that as a cause for the sudden increase in WIND's short interest.
