However, both Nokia and Mot probably have a huge investment in CDMA handset manufacturing (facilities and research). For either one to take over Q's handset manufacturing does not make sense to me since there will be a huge overlap. More likely, a better fit will be Ericsson or Siemens since they have absolutely nothing invested in CDMA handset facilities (as far as I know) and is probably itching to start CDMA handset sales in the US and abroad. It's a MUST HAVE for either one if they want to compete and it's a MUST HAVE for Ericsson to stay alive. Desperate measures require desperate action. Ericsson and Siemens (more Ericsson) are in that position but Ericsson must stay in it while Siemens has an option. Most likely candidate is Erisson with Siemens a close second. Nokia and Mot tie for third. Again, JMHO.

To me, I will be happy with any major European manufacturer. I don't think we will find out tomorrow who it is since Q stated it will take until the end of this year to negotiate. I bet Q is negotiating with a few companies to get the best deal. Ericsson is probably the hungriest so they will pay the most.
