Only simple management tasks like software upgrades/config info can be performed regardless of the PC. To take advantage of advanced manageability functions, hardware must be DMI compliant. Beyond that, things like thermal monitoring, component lock-out, chassis intrusion etc. require special hardware and propritery software hooks. There is a broad spectrum of capabilities and offerings within a still evolving standard. Vendors offer a combination of this that and the other to provide a so called total solution. If you buy someone's proprietary offering, there's little guarantee it's specialized functionality will become a standard. So be clear. I assume it's not what you MEANT to say and you were referring to managewise only, but it can easily be construed as FACT by someone who doesn't understand this stuff. MEATHEAD
