I know it's a very active stock, and it's only illiquid from the perspective of the big cap stocks. Most money has been piling into the big caps, and I think part of the reason was the big decline in July 1996. During that decline it was difficult to get out of anything but the big cap stocks without really pushing the issue down. That, and the popularity of indexing (money flowing into sp500 type stocks), makes smaller tech stocks "somewhat" illiquid.

I am NOT negative on AXC, and I would not dream of shorting it. There are clearly several possible positive surprises for AXC out there. But I wouldn't be comfortable with a highly leveraged position on AXC. I see plently of investors (sometimes myself as well), with their eyes so firmly fixed on a very bright future, that they ignore how difficult it might be to get there.

The current price offers some good support here. If the market holds together and there is no negative AXC news, we might bump along here at this price for some time.
