US Sen. Marco Rubio Sells Miami Home
Zillow, Contributor

As the Republican’s chosen rebutterto President Barack Obama‘s State of the Union address Tuesday night, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Floridareferenced how he grew up the son of immigrants in Miami, a neighborhood where Rubio still lives.

What Rubio did not mention is that the West Miami house where he and his family reside is currently listed for sale for $675,000.

Maybe the GOP’s brightest star and potential 2016 candidate did not want to use a national television audience to market his 2,600-square-foot home at 6060 SW 13th St, West Miami 33144.

Or maybe Rubio was going to mention that real estate news flash, just before he leaned left for an unplanned water break that made for an awkward moment and a slew of Internet buzz, including Rubio’s own Twitter pic of the infamous water bottle.

It was unclear exactly whether Rubio intends to relocate within his West Miami neighborhood that has long served as a rich reminder of his Cuban-American heritage, or whether he’s taking his family and decamping to D.C.

According to the Miami Herald, Rubio and his wife, Janette, bought the 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom house in 2005 for $550,000. The home was placed on the market in November 2012 and has seen a $20,000 increase in value. Overall, Miami home values are up 2 percent month over month, and up 16 percent from a year ago.
