There was a general call to arms against conservative evangelicals taking part in politics.

I find that individually, Religious people are about the same as anyone else. Good to bad. But when any of them are in a majority, things tend to happen I don't like.

I met a lot of Southern Baptists that are fine people. But I wouldn't want to live in a city run by them. Although "Law and Order" usually improves.

Same with Jews. But the reason I would not want to live in city run by them is almost the opposite of the Baptists. To Leftist, with a decrease in Law and Order.

I never made friends with any Muslims. The ones I did business with in LA were not too friendly. [Neither were the few Israelis I ran into.] But as a group, NO THANK YOU!

The take on the ME that I get is if you spend time there, you find individual Muslims to be warm and hospitable people. And the Israelis to be the opposite. So Leftists like Amanpour have their "victimology" reinforced by their personal experience. Her knowledge of Evangelicals, like most secular leftists, is limited and of a "boogeyman" variety.

The takeover of DC by the Republicans was a Southern one, with lots of Christians at the forefront. It was ideally made for the "boogeyman" outlook of the left to be reinforced.

Honolulu is run by Japanese ethnics who are politically Liberal but socially conservative. The bad effects of that are mitigated by the money that pours in from tourism. Gives them enough to get away with their welfare. But gives us a terrible school system.
