It might seem crazy to buy a smartphone the day before Apple unveils its new model, but hear me out.

See, not everybody loves Apple, and not everybody loves the iPhone. (I know, heresy, right?) For those folks, tomorrow is just a Wednesday. What matters today is scoring the best possible deal on the best possible non-iPhone handset.

By most accounts, that handset is the Samsung Galaxy S III, which has earned rave reviews from critics and users alike -- including an Editors' Choice award from CNET.

Most carriers sell it for $199.99, but for a limited time, Amazon has the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone for $99.99 shipped, plus a $35 carrier activation fee. (It's available from your choice of AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon.)

Just the other day I got my first look at the S III, and I had to apologize to my neighbor for drooling all over it. Seriously, I instantly fell in love with that gorgeous 4.8-inch Super-AMOLED screen.

The Galaxy also features quad-band 4G, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera, Bluetooth 4.0, and pretty much every other bell and whistle you can imagine. It runs on Android 4.0, with a rumored Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) update just around the corner.

Said CNET about this model: "Pumped with high-performing hardware and creative software features, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is an excellent, top-end phone." (Read the full Galaxy S III review if you want to learn more.)

It probably goes without saying that in addition to paying a hundred bucks for the phone, you'll need to sign up for a two-year contract with the carrier -- and pay around $60 minimum for monthly service. Not wild about that idea? If you can live with last year's Galaxy, Walmart has the Samsung Galaxy S2 for $299, with no contract and T-Mobile plans starting at $30 monthly.

But for anyone who wants the hot Android phone (at least for the moment), here's your chance to score it for the best possible price. Gotta admit, I've never been more tempted to jump ship -- though I'll at least wait until after tomorrow before strapping on the life vest.

Bonus deal: I couldn't let a Tablet Tuesday go by, could I? If you think a 10-inch screen is too large and a 7-inch screen is too small, how about meeting in the middle (ish)? Today only, Daily Steals has the Atria Aero 8-inch Android tablet for $149.99, plus $4.99 for shipping. It's pretty loaded, spec-wise, with a 1.5GHz processor, dual cameras, an HDMI output, and Android 4.0.3 (upgradeable to Jelly Bean). Alas, it comes with only 8GB of storage, but you can expand it cheaply with microSD cards. It's an off-brand tablet, obviously, but surprisingly well-reviewed at Amazon. And that price is tough to beat.
