To use a defense such as this to support their (apparent) inability to produce a "real world" MPG figure for "real world" use is pretty lame.
It could just as easily be argued that other countries have highways with speeds a lot *FASTER* than ours, couldn't it?

Gearing and torque play a large part in any such tests. If my anticipated needs were flat level roads with a smooth surface, I could *EASILY* supplement my Hyundai Excel (own two of them...don't laugh, they're paid for) powerplant to attain *BETTER* than 100mpg. If anyone wants to question this.....before I even offer an explanation of *HOW* I am going to do it, they need to be sending me blank checks (signed of course) and *I* will produce some dazzling press releases, and *WE* can start a little enterprise of our own.

The fact that a diesel engine was choosen speaks *VOLUMES* to anyone who knows Dick about energy efficiency. You do *NOT* have to be a mechanical engineer or anything else to read between the lines and see the *BIG* picture here.

You want to drive a GEO diesel in anything more than a *DOWNHILL* environment?

Now, as Dan M. would say, go on, get out of here!!!

PS....noticed you listed motorcycles as one of your interests. I used to road-race. WERA and AMA 6 and 8 hour endurance races. Hey, maybe we could be Buds??????
