Zeuspaul, thanks for the numbers. I have been thinking, since I sent back my Dell R400, I am going to wait for the next generation of Intel chips due out in the 1Q of 99.
I am running a Dell XPS133 with a 166MMX overdrive. I can't see spending 3400.00 for a box that I found was only about twice as fast as my current system. I was disapointed in that system, I thought it was going to be "super" fast.
If you look at the iComp Index, my computer rates at 160 and the Dell R400 was 440. On paper it is very fast, but with the applications I run, Photoshop, Hotdog 5, WP8, Netscape, the R400 didn't impress me.
Even a dos game I have, EF2000 a air fighter simulation game, made in euroupe, it didn't run much faster on the R400, it was faster, but maybe the problem was in the software programing. Bottom line is the Pentium II 400's don't impress me. |
