I guess no one is around right now so let me throw some ideas out their and see what you all think. I follow Shiva, Xylan, Fore, Ascend, MRV Communications and a few others and it seems to me that their has to be some consolidation in this industry at some point. With alot of these stocks hammered recently they make good takeover candidates. I know IBM and Intel are flush with cash and some of these networkers are getting awfully cheap.
When I hear about Cascade's drop I hear about the days of sales number being so high. That worries me too. I hope they are not the type of company that's going to use accounting tricks to help meet their earnings projections cause it's not going to work. If that was just a snapshot in time fine, but I hope it's not a sign of more to come. They just bought Sahara recently and they paid with about 3,000,000 shares of stock. I wonder if the people their are selling their shares as fast as they got them. I wonder if the SEC filings could shed some light on this. Finally ATM is only going to expand rapidly, frame relay has a place in all this, but I think this QOS, quality of service option they are building into their equipment should be major plus as you hear of internet bottlenecks. People will want to pay for faster service and I guess this would allow for different classes of service. Cascade has a bright future. I have very little faith in stock analysts. They always seem to upgrade a stock after great earnings and downgrade them after bad, real genius. I could do that. What some analysts I guess are saying is that Cascade is a long term buy. I think now is a great time to buy. If it takes a quick spike downwards during the day of say 3 or 4 points then comes back to close up or slightly down that maybe a signal for a turnaround.
