Also a lot of current 4 socket systems will be upgraded by switching processors. So there will be more cpu sales than are sold with new 4S systems.

That's an interesting hypothesis, but I'm guessing the sheer numbers of 2S and 1S systems out there more than compensates.

Four socket is where it will benefit the most because that's where HTT3 improves avg latency and bandwidth the most.

I suppose that is probably true, but how large an effect is it on most applications? Again, I think the competitive position would dictate going after 1S, 2S and desktop *first*, *if* there were no ramp issues (which is not possible, I admit), so I still think this "best for 4S" claim is largely crap to obscure the ramp issue, which I think will be particularly large with Barcelona.

BTW, 286mm^2 is just an estimate from a die plot & wafer, right? One think I thought of regarding my photo estimate from the legit-reviews pic, vs other estimates: Henri was almost surely holding up A1 silicon. The groo wafer pic and die plot used for the earlier estimate was probably A0. Could the size have changed slightly due to a respin?
