Storage Management(software) Market To Triple by 2005

Continued storage consolidation, combined with a shortage of trained IT personnel, will drive the worldwide storage management software to become a $16.7 billion industry by 2005, according to a report published this week by Gartner Dataquest. That figure is triple the value of the market in 2000, which stood at $5.3 billion, according to Gartner Dataquest. The consulting firm expects the market to grow by 26.4 percent to reach $6.6 billion in 2001.
Storage hardware budgets are growing faster than budgets to hire trained IT people, and it is getting harder to find qualified people to manage the storage, says Carolyn DiCenzo, chief analyst for Gartner Dataquest's Storage Management Software and SAN Appliances research group.
"It's cheaper to buy more software than hire people," DiCenzo says. "And it's faster."

Hopefully ADIC will get a piece of this pie.
