Aaarrggghhh. The whole point of interpreting the Bible is ignoring those inconvenient differences between the Old and New Testament. The Old Testament is so much more convenient if you want to be dogmatic. Jesus was way too easy going for the rigid thinking crowd. Which is why his teachings are too often ignored when preaching. But, OTOH, if you want to score points against the more liberal crowd, then trot him out...
