(i write this with a underlying smile of a inveterate satirist:) am now living on the DownEast Coast of Maine, far from the maddening crowd, as they say, so my attendance at any such "stop the war" event isn't something that will occur as a real decision event for me.
But i said to my wife today, if i lived in Washington i could not attend, for as of this time i see the "stop the war" marchers as a homogenous grouping that have an agenda beyond that of this singular war issue.
Living in a wild country area i am witness to the legitimate environmentalist versus the fanatic environmentalist.
Nothing up here gets our dander up more then to have some urban "o i spilled some Latte on my tie!" Naderite who doesn't know twit about what it is to live off the land and be one with nature, and this ignorant bloke ranting Green Party babble at us.
And as of now i am suspicious this is the prime source of recruitment for the protesters.
BTW, Jello Biafra, who i adore as a human being, was cause for was distresst to me on noting he has been sucked into this dribble by coming to Maine to campaign for a major jerk in the Green Party.
i think Jello would be shocked at the pain and misery his agenda threatens the "salt of the earth--real Peple" like lobstermen and fishermen and small patch individual loggers.
And unless someone closer to this can assure me these protesters are not in the main a branch of that movement, these protesters don't excite me. Max
