I am not looking for a correlation -- but some yardstick to align / reconcile to purchasing power. My pt is a simple one -- we are just starting to come off a rather long "quiescent" period for the volatility of gold --

In terms of the purchasing power of an ounce of gold (instead of nominal dollars), it is even more striking.
