What a great analogy !!!

I would limit the declaration of war to just DEC. Cyrix's attack was a bit low, but does not have the sinister flavor of DEC's attack. The suit was filed on the same day that the patent was issued, which is the earliest that it could have been filed. I am sure that DEC's action played a part in Cyrix's actions also, the timing works to their advantage. Also, even IF there is real infringement, Cyrix will no doubt settle for a cross-license: they need access to MMX 2 and Slot 1. And I don't have the same level of expectations from Cyrix that I have from DEC.
