Smarter DVDs in Smarter DVD Packaging for Multicom this Holiday
Season

WESTBURY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 1997--

Leading DVD Software Publisher Targets Retailers

Directly with Retail-Friendly Package

Multicom Publishing, Inc., a leading software publisher of lifestyle, entertainment and educational multimedia titles, announced
its plans to be the leading publisher of DVD-ROM software on retail shelves this coming holiday season. Of the five titles
slated for retail release in 1997, three are already being purchased directly by retailers or through distributors. The titles are
also available for and being released in OEM bundles with DVD-ROM upgrade kits, DVD-Video players and DVD-ROM
computers. Multicom's first release, Warren Miller's Ski World, has been reviewed by DVD-ROM standards' groups as the
finest combination DVD-Video and DVD-ROM on a single disc presently available. This combination, known as DVD
Multiplay, provides seven times the capacity of a single CD-ROM and supports full-screen, full-motion, MPEG-2 video as
well as Dolby Digital(AC-3) 5.1 Surround Sound. Warren Miller's Ski World contains 75 minutes of adrenaline-pumping
video highlights from the best of Warren Miller's ski films combined with a new stereo sound track. Fully interactive multimedia
capabilities include a ski resort database with information on over 700 resorts worldwide, instructional video designed to teach
beginning to advanced skiing techniques, and finally, free Internet access with links to web sites containing information such as
weather conditions and manufacturer information.

Each of the five titles, will be coming to market in packaging specifically designed for the DVD market. Known as the Trac
Pac, the DVD packaging chosen by Multicom allows publishers to provide high perceived value with a cost of goods only a
fraction of present day CD-ROM packaging. Designed by Clear-Vu Products, an innovative media packaging manufacturer in
Westbury, NY, the Trac Pac is a more "Retail Smart" package because it allows retailers to integrate a small, inexpensive lock
into the actual package to eliminate sell-through shrinkage losses. The Trac Pac, chosen over Warner's Snapper package and
others, also allows publishers to use a book-flap on the front to influence point of purchase decisions with more space for
graphic collateral. Innovatively providing disk retention without the use of a potentially damaging hub, the package
incorporates a slide tray that emulates the actual motion of the hardware drawer while also promoting proper disk handling for
use by children and others. Clear-Vu products will be giving away samples of the Warren Miller's Ski World and taking
orders from retailers at Retail Vision from September 2-5 in San Diego and the Software Publishers Association Convention
from September 6-9 in Washington, D.C.

Multicom's first five DVD titles are as follows:

1) Warren Miller's Ski World '97 2) Home Depot's Home Improvement 1-2-3 3) Great Chefs, Great Cities 4) Better Homes
and Gardens Cool Crafts 5) Exploring America's National Parks
