Elk, Thanks for the information on the cable modems. I've been eagerly awaiting the fibre optic upgrade in my neighborhood so I can get one. The cable company is vague on cost but I hear it will be about $39 a month for the connection and internet access. This is about the same as I currently pay for a second phone line and Prodigy.

I'm sure that high speed access to the internet will be very competitive in the next two years and the dominant technology will make a lot of money. ADSL and cable models will probably blanket the urban areas and perhaps a wireless technology will dominate the rural areas. I am far from an expert on this topic though and appreciate opinions from everyone.

Does anyone follow Westell on this thread. They seem to be a player.
