DD,

Hmmm. Haven't visited SI in months and on a whim checked in. Was surprised to see my in-basket had an overwhelming 2 msgs inside. One from SI which doesn't even count and one from an actual, virtual, human (or reasonable facsimile thereof) person. I got kinda bored with SI and from the volume of msgs to me you can see how much play I get. Plus kinda busy with the "ranch" and a family who dares to demand my time.
Same reason I haven't been playing with TA hardly at all although I do keep a list of stocks on yahoo and follow some charts actually using SI's charting. I'd like to get back into it but for now I sort of watch the market out of the corner of my eyes. Askance as it were. "Playing" takes time. Hell, these days I'm lucky to even have work in this silly valley.
My account hasn't faired too badly given what's been going on. Wish I'd gotten out of a few but what the hell. Most will come back though slowly. I'm not anxious about missing an imminent bull run as I tend to think we're in for a long bear with occasionally rallies.
Been looking at some reits yielding well over 10% and think why not just park there for a while with an air of caution and vigilance.
For particulars, goof-wise, I'm even considering putting a little in MSO, Martha Stewart's company, cuz I think the damage to her will not come to as much as the damage to her stock "at the end of the day". I don't think she was playing with a measly 1/4 million. Plus, the contrariness of it alone compels. I mean everyone hates Martha, right? 'Cept my wife who doesn't like to miss her show. I have no idea why but I bet a lot of women folk are like that.
Otherwise wondering if I shouldn't plop some money into old severely beaten up stalwarts, like say SUNW, for example only, and just wait.
I like reading John Mauldin's free e-letters (http://www.investorsinsight.com/). In general he believes we're in a secular bear mkt and sees deflation as a threat. Seems like a sane mind in a relatively insane world.

Cheers, Nasdy
