Whitecourt Natural Gas Prospect Acquired in Alberta Tue Apr 20, 2004 Athlone Minerals Ltd. (the "Company") announces that they and two partners have acquired a one section parcel of crown land in the Whitecourt area through the Alberta government Crown landsale on April 7, 2004. Under the terms of the arrangement, Athlone will pay 50% of the cost of acquisition and recompletion to earn a 35% working interest in the well. The partners plan to re-enter, fracture and evaluate a suspended gas well. If successful, the partners envisage production from this well at a forecast rate in excess of one million cubic feet per day. Encouraging developments in the first two oil wells in the Success field show the possibility of at least two more locations on land held by Athlone and its partner. Athlone is currently awaiting an accounting of the first two months production. Athlone is well financed with $3.7 million in cash and is actively pursuing several natural gas projects in western Canada. athlone.com
