Company Press Release

Saville Works With Oracle To Bring Flexible, Scalable Convergent Billing And Customer Care To Telecom Service Providers

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1997--Leading convergent billing and customer care provider Saville Systems (NASDAQ:SAVLY) announced today it is working with leading relational database vendor Oracle Corp. to provide telecom service providers with a scalable, flexible convergent billing and integrated customer care solution that will help them meet telecom market challenges.

The combination of Oracle(r) universal data server with Saville's flexible customer care and billing platform will give telecom service providers the flexibility to add new products and services to their offerings as their business grows without sacrificing any of Saville's software's business functionality. As a member of the Oracle Alliance program, Saville will receive technical support to help it integrate its Convergent Billing Platform (CBP)(TM) with the Oracle(r) Universal Server. Saville will provide Oracle with access to the convergent billing and customer care market, a worldwide market that is expected to exceed $3.8 billion by the end of 1997 and $9.3 billion by the year 2000, according to Northern Business Information, a New York-based research and consulting firm.

Saville's support for Oracle will also enable companies to integrate their billing and customer care system with external support systems, such as data warehouse and decision support applications. This is intended to provide companies with additional ways to analyze customer information so they can make well-informed business decisions, such as which new services it should bring to market in different regions. These target marketing solutions will help companies reduce customer churn by providing them with one-stop shopping for all the telecom products and services they require.

The relationship also lays the foundation for future integration with Oracle 8 and the Oracle Applications line of enterprise business software, including Oracle Financials, which will provide companies with even greater functionality to help them better compete in the highly competitive telecom industry. In the future, Saville
will also incorporate Oracle's Network Computing Architecture (NCA) into Saville CBP.

``Saville's industry-leading technology, combined with its strong reputation among key telecom industry players are a winning combination,'' said Mike Hallet, vice president of Oracle's Americas Alliances. ``Our relationship with Saville will allow us to deliver expanded capabilities to telecom service providers that meet a variety
of their complex business needs.''

Oracle provides Alliance partners with critical components for database applications that scale beyond the local area network, such as enterprise-scale management tools, operating system portability, and parallel query execution capability for decision support system databases on UNIX and NT.

``Saville is committed to working with leading technology providers like Oracle to deliver the most comprehensive convergent billing platform to global telecommunications companies such as Global One and AT&T. Oracle and Saville's products and strategic directions complement each other, and will provide telecom companies with an integrated solution that meet all their business needs,'' said John Kiley, senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Saville CBP Explained

Saville CBP is designed to integrate billing and customer care for multiple services from a single solution. This enables providers to offer customers one-stop shopping, a single invoice and customer care for all services. Saville CBP enables companies to support all customer processes from a single integrated platform, while building a repository of customer data that is critical to corporate decision making.

Saville CBP's modular approach has enabled Saville to deliver convergent customer care and billing systems faster and at a lower cost than traditional billing systems, incorporating proven software modules into a comprehensive, integrated solution. In addition to traditional telecommunications services such as local, long distance and cellular, the Saville system also supports services such as competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC), satellite, Internet, cable and energy, in a single
solution.
