NP Energy announces expansion of MetroPlus Communications
NORTH VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1997--With the recent completed eastward expansion, MetroPlus is the largest flat rate calling provider covering an area from the BC Coast to Chilliwack, in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, servicing a
population over 1.5 million.
MetroPlus acquired the customer base of "The Local Connection," a former competitor, adding 900 new customers bringing the total customer base of MetroPlus to over 5,000 subscribers.
The company is presently in the final planning stages for the westward expansion to the capital area of British Columbia, Victoria on Vancouver Island, with a population of over 200,000.
MetroPlus has also entered the lucrative "pager" industry, providing pagers and pager service as well as voice mail for North America and Mexico via satellite link, and is in the final stage of negotiating with major carriers to provide national and international long distance service.
